Sydney Oglesby Walmsley (birth registered July→September 1896 in Bootle district, Cumberland[1] — death unknown) was an English professional rugby league footballer of the 1910s and '20s who at representative level played for England, and at club level for Millom RLFC, Leeds, and Huddersfield, playing at Fullback, i.e. number 1.[2]

Syd Walmsley won caps for England while at Leeds in 1923 against Wales, and in 1924 against Wales.[3]
Syd Walmsley played Fullback, and scored a try in Leeds’ 28-3 victory over Hull in the 1922-23 Challenge Cup final at Belle Vue, Wakefield, this is the only occasion the Challenge Cup final has been staged at Belle Vue.[2]
